PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT YOU WILL HAVE 90 DAYS TO COMPLETE THIS COURSE FROM THE DATE OF PURCHASE.Course content updated January 2025.Course Description and Target AudienceIn July 2015, Florida House Bill 279 expanded authority of pharmacists to allow for the administration of immunizations and vaccines listed in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) Adult Immunization Schedule. To become certified, pharmacists must successfully complete an immunization administration certification program of no fewer than 20 hours, approved by the Florida Board of Pharmacy. In addition, during each subsequent licensure renewal term, the certified pharmacist must complete a 3-hour course on the safe and effective administration of vaccines, including the use of epinephrine for allergic reactions. Florida Medical Association, Florida Retail Federation and Florida Pharmacy Association have partnered to offer this three-hour online course to fulfill the mandated continuing education requirement for immunizing pharmacists in Florida. The content includes the safe and effective administration of vaccines with a specific emphasis on all vaccines listed in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices Adult Immunization Schedule. The course also addresses the safe and effective administration of epinephrine by pharmacists when medically necessary. To complete this 3-hour course, learners must view the entire recording, take and pass the post-test, and complete an evaluation form. The recording, which includes the following modules, can be viewed at one time or the recording will bookmark, and learners can resume the course where they left off upon signing back into their account.
