The International Labour Organization (ILO) estimates that 24.9 million men, women, and children are bought, sold, and enslaved around the world is often hidden in plain sight. They are in factories, fields, private homes, and on our streets; and every day, they interact with healthcare providers. No population is exempt: it affects all ages, races, genders, sexual orientations, ethnicities, and other demographics.Healthcare professionals are in a unique and trusted position, making it imperative for them to be fully informed about human trafficking. Our faculty facilitators will cover topics such as confidentiality, safety, building trust to ensure that the healthcare needs of patients are addressed, mandatory reporting, child welfare organizations, and how community members can support survivors’ physical and mental health needs during the pandemic and beyond.
