The FMA first offered this course as a supplement to its Florida Medical Magazine. Based on input from the Florida Department of Health, the FMA Council on Public Health and other community organizations, this Florida mandatory CME content has been periodically reviewed and updated to include the most current statistics and information about domestic violence as well as human trafficking. While physicians cannot solve every problem that patients face, they can serve as a link to connect their most vulnerable patients to community resources and services. As one of the course authors, James E. Harrell, M.D. has said, if we at least ask the question, the door is opened and a dialogue can begin.
