This course is offered by the Florida Medical Association and the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association, with support from the Consortium for Medical Marijuana Clinical Outcomes Research (CCORC). The content addresses available evidence and known safety issues, provides a brief overview of federal law related to cannabis/marijuana, and highlights relevant Florida law that governs physicians (MD and DO) who opt to maintain the authorization to order low-THC cannabis and/or medical marijuana and to certify patient eligibility to receive low-THC cannabis and/or medical marijuana in Florida. Allopathic and Osteopathic physicians who wish to retain this authorization to order low-THC cannabis and/or medical marijuana and to certify patients are required to complete this course and pass the post-test once during each licensure term.

CME Objectives:
After completing this activity, learners will be able to:
- Discuss relevant state rules and regulations governing low-THC cannabis and medical marijuana in Florida
- Identify the allowable conditions and delivery mechanisms for medical marijuana in Florida
- Recognize the legal restrictions and parameters that physicians must observe when certifying patients as eligible for low-THC cannabis and medical marijuana in Florida
- Decide whether to certify patients as eligible for low-THC cannabis and/or medical marijuana based on an understanding of the legality of such activity under federal law
- Identify the mechanisms of action, bioavailability, and onset/duration of effects of medical marijuana in low and high-THC containing forms.
- Describe potential health and safety considerations associated with medical use in low and high-THC containing forms of marijuana.
- Interpret the evidence regarding risks and benefit when medical marijuana is used in populations with specific qualifying conditions.
